Injection moulding method

The modern injection moulding method is used almost exclusively at R.E.T. today for shaping elastomers.

Screw-type injection moulding machines are used for injection moulding; the injection moulding process runs essentially similar to that for thermoplastic injection moulding. The screw kneads and mixes the moulding compound, which is thereby homogeneousy processed, and conveys the elastomer material
into the mould via channels and nozzles.

Heat of friction arises from   the flow in the nozzle and the sprues. This shortens the vulcanisation time. That makes the injection moulding process particularly economical, even the  mechanical properties of the manufactured parts can improve.

Objects with high precision and a wide variety of shapes can be manufactured within a short time with the injection moulding process Several materials can also be bonded to one another, e.g., two-component injection moulding Injection moulding is a very economical method for producing mass products; the tools (moulds) are designed such that several parts can be produced in parallel in a single work step: material is simultaneously injected into several mould cavities via one injection channel.
Typical mould cavity arrangements have 4, 8, 16, 32,... mould cavities on one mould plate.

Today over 30 injection moulding machines with closing forces from 500 kN to 2500 kN are in use at R.E.T.
