Dispensing or free-form application technology
"Dispensing" or "free-form application technology" are understood to mean the application of the elastomer on a component by means of a metering device.
The purpose of the elastomer application can be, for example, sealing, decoupling of sound or vibration, or EMC shielding.
These applications are made at R.E.T. with particularly high quality silicone; different materials with different hardnesses and vulcanisation systems (1-component or 2-component) are used. For high sealing forces, solid silicone is used, if a high degree of adaptability is required, a foamed elastomer is employed.
R.E.T. uses program-controlled systems for precise application of the elastomer to the component and exact repeatability of the application in large production runs The meter and apply the elastomer in precisely the desired height/width ratio.
Multi-axis robots are used for complex applications in the X, Y and Z directions. Thus even "3-D application" or application on curved surfaces is possible.
After application, the elastomer is cured, at room temperature,
in an oven or a climate-controlled chamber.
R.E.T. “machines” parts from a great variety of materials, such as pressure-cast aluminium, injection-moulded plastic and steel sheet metal. The selection of the suitable seal material, the seal geometry and the seal profile on the component is the competence of R.E.T. The customer is offered a solution that is optimised in terms of functionality and cost and which meets their specification, required chemical resistance, specified rigidity, required sealing force, etc.
