2-component technology
2-component technology, hard/soft
In 2-component manufacturing, a hard component (plastic) is joined to a soft component (elastomer) into a composite part in the common synchronous process. An outstanding adhesive effect between the different materials is produced by chemical bonding, without chemical pretreatment of the thermoplastic parts – a very efficient and economical process
This method is ideally suited for parts with large production runs.
2-component manufacturing is particularly efficient when liquid silicone (LSR) is used; additional design and production-technology possibilities offer themselves here.
R.E.T. has been manufacturing with the 2-component method since 2002.
The 2-component manufacturing brings the following advantages for our customers:
- best adhesion of the elastomer to the plastic part
- no additional assembly steps
- fast cycle times, little handling, high degree of automation, stable manufacturing processes and an attractive price per part
